January, of
course, is when we recognize Sanctity of Human Life Month, and it was January
1973 when the infamous Roe vs. Wade ruling was issued. That was 36 years ago and as tragic as it
was, it is a reminder that God uses all things together for good. Without Roe, this center likely would not
exist today. Because it was after that
ruling that the Christian community recognized the need of crisis pregnancies
and began meeting that need.
Some will say we were too late -
that this should have happened before 1973 - and they may be right. But we are here now, and God is doing some
mighty things as He touches the lives of those who come in our door. Each of you reading this newsletter is a
vital part of all that happens here.
You are part of the Christian community who recognized a need and
chose to do something about it. We are
making a difference, one life at a time, and we appreciate each and every one
of you.
I am happy to report to you that
we delivered 6,000 Sanctity of Human Life bulletin inserts to our area
churches. If you happen to be reading
this and your church did not receive bulletin inserts, please call our office
at 589-7208. A big heartfelt “thank
you” to the people who helped put our label on all the bulletin inserts. It takes a lot of time to sticker 6,000
pieces, so without your help we would most likely still be stickering. Thank you again.
We are feverishly getting ready
for our Site Monitoring Inspection on February 10th at 10am. That’s when the State comes in and reviews
our facility and every record keeping file we have. I tell myself this is a good thing just to
make sure we are doing everything correctly.
However, I’m always quite relieved when it’s over.
With more people losing jobs and
finances being squeezed to the limit, we are providing assistance to more and
more clients. Yes, perhaps Heartbeat
exists for such a time as this. We
have also been blessed with a great number of donations in 2009. They are all being put to good use. Thank you to the churches who held “Happy
Birthday Jesus” showers for us. The
gifts are beautifully wrapped and bring smiles to so many clients. Even though our society has problems, your
giving is part of the solution.
If anyone attended the March for
Life on January 22nd, please give our office a call, I would love
to hear from you. Have a great
2009. With your help we will continue
to be a voice for the voiceless.
Sincerely,
Susan Spriggle, Director
