Angel Tree Christmas is a part of Prison Fellowship, founded in 1976 by Chuck Colson. Prison Fellowship partners with local churches across the country to minister to a group that society often scorns and neglects: prisoners, ex-prisoners, and their families. Angel
Tree Christmas gives churches an opportunity to share Christ's love by helping to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the families of prisoners. Participating in Angel Tree Christmas is a powerful way for our church to lovingly answer the biblical call to minister to “the least of these”. Angel Tree Christmas works by connecting parents in prison with their children through the delivery of Christmas gifts. More information on the Angel Tree Christmas program will be provided closer to Christmas.
Prison Fellowship was instrumental in starting several Christian operated prisons in the Midwest. The University ofPennsylvania did research on Government and Christian operated prisons. The results were amazing. Government operated prisons had a 68% return rate, whereas the Christian prison’s rate was 8%. There is a movement to close the Christian prisons. It is currently awaiting a decision from the Supreme Court. Keep this in your prayers.
